Journal: September

This is me, pausing for an intro and hello!

Here’s what I’ve been thinking about lately:

– I finally read the opening chapter of the Lessons from Madame Chic, which has been on my list for years as a how-to/memoire of French living. Mme Chic is introduced to us as a woman who works part time, volunteers, cooks save-your-appetite worthy breakfasts and dinners daily for her family, and looks polished to perfection while doing all of the above. It will be quite some time before I’m emotionally ready to read chapter 2.

– My eldest is in his first semester of college, locally. It’s been wonderful seeing him step into this chapter, and how he holds himself afresh.

– My youngest is in her first semester of elementary school!–in the third grade. I am officially homeschool-retired. After fourteen years. 🤯🥳👩🏻‍🎓

– There are no Sneak Peeks of the loveliest bride I photographed a few days ago. Her dad accompanied, which I can only imagine was a memory in the making for the pair of them. She wore the jewelry he had given her mother upon their own wedding.

– My husband planted corn in our backyard vegetable garden. This is our current experiment. I wonder how high it will grow; I don’t believe I’ve ever seen corn in raised beds before. Do you have any healthy-ish recipes for Mexican Street Corn? ☀️🌽🌧️

– Fall feels busy, in the best way. It also feels like summer, with my thermometer clocking over 100 degrees lately. I see you out there, October skies!

Thanks for the coffee chat!
