MJ’s Bridal Session at the Julia Ideson Library

Mary Judah is married!

Before her marriage took place, Mary Judah and I reserved time in the Julia Ideson Library for bridal portraits. Opening in 1926, this building served as the original main library of Houston and underwent renovation in 2000. It’s the perfect place to be surrounded by history, artful architecture, and rich details.

At one point near the middle of our session (spotted: third down and on the right), I was confronted by strong Jo Stockton vibes: Jo is Audrey Hepburn’s character in Funny Face (1957). In the movie’s early scenes, Jo tends a bookshop, where she’s discovered by a Vogue photographer (Fred Astaire) and reluctantly agrees to be their featured model of a campaign in Paris. Jo is classic, bookish, whimsical, elegant, and girlish, all at once…

And every single word speaks also of Mary Judah. I’m so delighted to have marked this season of you becoming a new bride, MJ. Thank you for bringing me along with you!

Oh my gosh! What could be more perfect than a library! Once again, Emily, you nailed it. The location, the lighting, the staging. Thank you!
