Backstage on Recital Night

Some women are wonderful backstage moms because they entertain dancers during long wait times. Some bring snacks and juice-boxes, or help with the perfect make-up application.

I sign up because it’s magical back in the wings. It melts my heart when the girls nervously disclose their backstage jitters, when they throw admiring glances towards the older dancers en pointe, when they celebrate having made it through their big stage moment together. There’s nothing like the energy that surges behind those heavy velvet curtains.

And yes, they were amazing! Happy summer ladies. You are bright, and fun, and so very lovely.
