About Emily: My Photography Story

It was recently suggested to me that photography is a job.

Sure it is. But let’s get this straight: Photography is THE job.

I don’t “capture” my subjects; I’ve been captured by the magical formula of light+composition+expression and how it shapes our nostalgia, our confidence—how it makes us notice life in new ways.

Going into seven years, I don’t know whether I’ll be a photographer forever, or what kind of photographer I’ll grow into or continue to be. 

I do know, this has shaped me.
